A simple recipe to make tasty cheesy crackers that are crumbly, oaty and delicious - great with cheeses or dips, but nice enough to eat all on their own.
The Recipe
Ingredients:
- 200g Self Raising Flour
- 100 Soft butter or margarine
- 75g Rolled oats
- 75g Grated cheese
- 1 Teaspoon mustard
- A few tablespoons of cold water
Method:
Put the flour and fat in a bowl - cut it together with a table knife until the mixture resembles breadcrumbs.
Add the oats, mustard and cheese - mix again with the knife until everything is combined.
Add a small amount of cold water and mix - keep doing this until the mixture forms a coherent dough.
Preheat the oven - 180C = 350F = Gas mark 4.
make small balls of the dough and flatten them onto a metal tray. Flatten them further with the tines of a fork, to produce a radial star pattern on them.
Bake in the oven for 15 minutes, or until they are light golden brown. Cool on a wire rack
Serve with cheeses or dips.
