Watercress

watercressthumb.JPGAugust 30 2008 - We spent the day by the side of the River Meon near Soberton - at this point, the river is a fast-flowing, crystal-clear chalk stream.

The kids busied themselves with the catching of sticklebacks and minnows and the building of dams. I scouted around a bit and discovered large patches of watercress in the shallow margins.

Rose Hips

rosehipthumb.JPGAugust 15 2008 - We tried walking the Hamble Valley Strawberry Trail from Hamble Point up to Manor Farm, but kept getting lost. Fortunately, our random detours took us past some great wild food resources - some nice blackberries, a row of wild plum trees heavy with fruit and a planted rose hedge bearing lots of ripe rose hips.
