Chanterelles

chanterelles1.jpgWe were out of a walk at manor Farm Country Park and not 100 yards away from where we caught the shore crabs last Sunday, I spotted a flash of bright yellow amid the leaf litter off to one side of the path.

On further investigation, my hopes were confirmed - it was a little patch of Chanterelles.

Crayfish

crayfishthumb.jpgJune 04 2007 - kids have a day off school today, so we piled into the car and drove up to Oxford, where the river Thames is suffering from an invasion of foreign crayfish - the American Signal Crayfish - which is not only out-competing our native crayfish, but acts as carrier for a disease that kills the native crustaceans.
