You might have seen Yorkshire Puddings used in a similar way to this - and those are fantastic too, however, making the bowls out of bread in this way results in an edible bowl that is robust enough to contain the food without seeping through or falling apart.

August 05 2007 - Autumn, or at least some aspects of it - has arrived early this year. We've had a miserably wet and cool summer, but despite (or perhaps because of) this, the blackberries are early, and they're excellent.

We were out of a walk at manor Farm Country Park and not 100 yards away from where we caught the shore crabs last Sunday, I spotted a flash of bright yellow amid the leaf litter off to one side of the path.
On further investigation, my hopes were confirmed - it was a little patch of Chanterelles.

We went crabbing down at the pontoon at Manor Farm Country Park and brought back a bucket of shore crabs to make soup.

June 04 2007 - kids have a day off school today, so we piled into the car and drove up to Oxford, where the river Thames is suffering from an invasion of foreign crayfish - the American Signal Crayfish - which is not only out-competing our native crayfish, but acts as carrier for a disease that kills the native crustaceans.
